SUMMARY:Bird Walk at Gorewada Biopark Lake Trail\, Nagpur\, Maharashtra
DESCRIPTION:Bird Walk at Anasagar Lakefront\, Ajmer Rajasthan \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Ajmer\n \n \n \n \n 19 April\, 2026\n \n \n \n \n Akanksha Verma\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About Anasagar Lakefront \n \n \n \n Set against the historic cityscape of Ajmer\, the Ana Sagar Lakefront is a vibrant blend of culture and ecology\, where urban life meets a thriving wetland ecosystem. This expansive man-made lake\, fringed with promenades\, gardens\, and scattered trees\, creates a unique habitat that supports a wide range of flora and fauna. The open water attracts flocks of waterbirds\, while the edges—lined with reeds\, grasses\, and ornamental plantings—offer shelter to waders and smaller species. From graceful gulls and ducks gliding across the lake to kingfishers and passerines darting along the shoreline\, Ana Sagar is a lively birding destination\, especially during winter when migratory visitors add to its diversity. \n \n \n \n However\, being at the heart of a bustling city also brings challenges. Increasing urban pressure\, pollution\, and human disturbance can impact water quality and the delicate balance of habitats that birds depend on. Fluctuating water levels and reduced natural vegetation further threaten its ecological value. Yet\, with growing awareness and conservation efforts\, Ana Sagar holds immense potential as an urban biodiversity hotspot. Protecting and restoring such spaces not only supports birdlife but also preserves a vital green escape for people—reminding us that even in the busiest cities\, nature can continue to thrive if given the chance. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Partnered with \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Bird Guide - Akansha VermaA Certified Ornithologist (Cornell University distance education) with a Master’s in Zoology and a diploma in Ornithology\, she brings over 7 years of birding experience. She is passionate about inspiring young minds to appreciate birdwatching and regularly writes about his experiences in magazines and newspapers.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Bird walk Location \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Common birds of Anasagar Lakefront \n \n \n \n Ana Sagar Lakefront in Ajmer transforms into a spectacular birding arena\, especially when its waters host an impressive gathering of large waterbirds and elegant waders. The sight of massive pelicans—both Rosy and Dalmatian—gliding across the lake alongside Painted Storks creates a truly dramatic scene. Along the edges\, Purple and Grey Herons stalk patiently\, while Black-crowned Night Herons retreat into shaded corners\, waiting for dusk. The wetlands are alive with activity as Eurasian Coots and Moorhens paddle through the water\, and Indian Spot-billed Ducks move in calm groups. Adding to this richness\, the striking Eurasian Spoonbill sweeps its bill through the shallows\, while Great Egrets stand tall in quiet elegance.\n\nBeyond the water\, the surrounding landscape buzzes with smaller yet equally fascinating birds. Wire-tailed Swallows skim low over the lake\, Little Swifts dart across the sky\, and flashes of color come from Purple Sunbirds and Little Green Bee-eaters. Calls of Ashy Prinias and starlings fill the air\, while Black Drongos and Black Kites dominate the skyline with their agile flight. The presence of species like the Grey-headed Swamphen and White-throated Kingfisher further adds to the diversity\, making Ana Sagar not just a scenic spot but a vibrant ecosystem where every visit offers a new birding experience. \n \n \n \n \n Rosy Pelican \n \n \n \n Dalmatian Pelican \n \n \n \n Painted Stork \n \n \n \n Grey-headed Swamphen \n \n \n \n Eurasian Coot \n \n \n \n Indian Spot-billed Duck \n \n \n \n Wire-tailed Swallow \n \n \n \n Ashy Prinia \n \n \n \n Purple Sunbird \n \n \n \n Brahminy Starling \n \n \n \n Asian Pied Starling \n \n \n \n Black-headed Ibis \n \n \n \n Black Drongo \n \n \n \n Little Swift \n \n \n \n Black Kite \n \n \n \n Common Moorhen \n \n \n \n Great Egret \n \n \n \n Purple Heron \n \n \n \n Grey Heron \n \n \n \n Eurasian Spoonbill \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Summary of Walk \n \n \n \n This bird walk at Anasagar Lakefront was particularly special for beginners\, many of whom were amazed to discover such rich birdlife within their own city. The group recorded 33 species\, including Eurasian Spoonbill\, Painted Stork\, and Black-headed Ibis\, which were seen actively feeding in the lake. The vibrant Grey-headed Swamphen and the hovering Pied Kingfisher added excitement to the observations. \n \n \n \n Participants also enjoyed watching coots\, moorhens\, and the charming Little Grebe\, which quickly became a favourite. Behavioural observations\, such as territorial interactions of Purple Sunbirds\, made the experience lively and memorable. The walk left participants inspired and more aware of urban biodiversity. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Number of Participants \n \n 0

SUMMARY:Bird Walk at ARAI Hills\, Pune\, Maharashtra

SUMMARY:Campus Bird Walk at Rajasthan Technical University\, Kota
